the calypso kamae
It will be called the“Kamae. It will be under Alan’s one-man brand called“Calypso. The car is the summary of his decades of experience. It is a representation of his cosmopolitan worldview and know-how. Like the talent, it is one of a kind.
The car is 53¾ inches and tall, 96 inches wide and 187 inches long. It sports a 22-inch wheel design by Alan Lee Designs.
The power comes from a 3.2 liter V8 Ferrari Modena managed by a Ferrari Modena 6 speed paddle shifter. Alan Lee upgrades include a billet stroker crankshaft, new sleeves and piston which will push the size to 4.5 liters. It will feature a complete custom air intake, plenum, and injection system, backed up by 2 Procharger superchargers with a double intercooling system. The result will be 750 to 900 HP at 11,000 RPM. All dyno testing R&D and electronics are done by Alan.
All the mechanical components are assembled and tested by Alan. The hand-made aluminum center body (security cell) with removable rear frame is also constructed in aluminum. The entire suspension system (A-arm , steering system, brake system cooling and oiling) was researched and developed by Alan as well. He will personally hand make the body per his design. There will be a coil-over-spring Indy car suspension back with an ACCU computer air system which will lift the car 3 inches taller for bumps and curbs at under 20 miles per hour. Other features include stainless complete exhaust design (welding and R&D by Alan), a hydrogen generator, and red leather interior with carbon Kevlar accents. All windows, including the windshield, is shaped by Alan and custom made for the car.
In the 2 years R&D and construction every detail is imagined, drawn, blue-printed, fabricated and built in place by Alan Lee.
